Physical Needs, Spiritual Health, Emotional Well Being & Mental Health

All single mothers have goals, even if the only goal is getting life back on track to a new sense of normal. Setbacks can cause us to get off track and at times completely stop us from going where we had hoped to. How many times have you heard, “I wish I had known about that resource when I needed it?” The Abigail Network understands what it takes to be successful in life and we hope this resource guide will aid you in your progress.

Physical Needs are those requirements that one needs to live. Some of the common physical needs include water, food, security, shelter, etc.

Spiritual Health
The spirit is our essence of being, and the energy that drives us, but it is subtler in its expression and harder to discover than our physical needs. This document outlines resources that can help heal the painful wounds of grief, guilt, resentment, un-forgiveness, self-rejection, and shame; to name a few.

Everyone Needs:

  • Experience regularly the healing and empowerment of love.
  • Experience growth, maturing, moments that expand us beyond where we are.
  • Core values which give sense of meaning and hope.
  • Values, priorities, and life commitments that guide us.

Emotional Well Being & Mental Health
Emotional wellbeing and mental health are a part of our advanced needs and while they are not physical needs, they can greatly affect physical health. For example, stress, depression, and anxiety can contribute to a host of physical ailments including digestive disorders, sleep disturbances, and lack of energy. In addition to this, if we are stressed, depressed or anxious we interact with our world differently than we would have, causing us to lose opportunities. This is an important part of being successful and happy.
